The town of Witbank has a large Muslim community who had outgrown their current ad-hoc prayer facilities. The proposal was to create a new mosque within the large site that would identify the community with the traditional Islamic aesthetic through the creation of distinct courtyards and a traditional Islamic architecture vocabulary.
